‘Remembering 9/11’ opens at Olin Library, runs through Sept. 30

“Remembering 9/11,” an exhibition featuring artifacts that reveal 9/11’s impact both then and now on the university and its members, is on view at Olin Library through Sunday, Sept. 30, in Olin Library’s Grand Staircase Lobby and Ginkgo Reading Room on Level 1.

The exhibition features material from University Archives and material collected for Remembering 9/11, a cultural archives project — launched by WUSTL’s American Culture Studies in Arts & Sciences — exploring memories of 9/11 at the university and in the culture as a whole.

The project was launched on the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, and is an ongoing effort. Included are interviews, written reflections, speeches, oral histories and original works of art.

University Libraries and American Culture Studies will host a reception for the exhibition at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, in Olin Library, Room 142.

Wayne Fields, PhD, the Lynne Cooper Harvey Distinguished Professor of English and professor of American culture studies, both in Arts & Sciences, will make opening remarks and introduce the exhibition. 

An exhibition viewing will follow in Olin Library’s Grand Staircase Lobby and Ginkgo Reading Room on Level 1.
